The Awkward First Date After a Drunken Make-Out Sesh (Sometimes at the OD)

Okay, so this is my first summer after graduating college, my first summer living in Manayunk, my first summer being best friends again with my best friend, as well as living with her, my first summer really single after my breakup with my ex, and a first summer of many first dates.

So, most of my first dates have been with guys that I have met at a bar and have drunkenly made out with. So let's talk about the awkwardness of meeting each other again without our beer goggles on. There was one date in particular, which also happened to be my first date of the summer, with this guy that I had meet at the OD in Sea Isle, (for those of you who are not familiar with the OD, it is a sloppy-drunk bar where many people meet other singles and, in a drunken state, may believe they have met their future spouse) so, I met this guy Mike who at the time I believed was a hot, well dressed, guy who had a solid job, lived close by, and was nice to talk (and make out with) and I thought it was destined for a fairy tale ending. So we ended up going on a date, which was actually not as bad as it could have been. He was extremely nice and polite and fun, but nope there was just nothing there. And the awkwardness of meeting up just made me nervous.. do we hug? Will he kiss me? If so, on the check? On the lips? Having already locked lips for a majority of the night, I had no idea what to expect. But being that I happen to LOVE first dates, and the awkward, uncomfortable conversation of first dates it was nothing I couldn't handle, but its safe to say that I did not go out with him again nor have I heard from him since. (Thank GOD)

Breakups and Ex boyfriends

I would first like to start this entry out with a letter.

dear boys,

you all seriously suck and i hate you.

love,
haley

okay. so tonight i will most likely be running into my ex boyfriend who i haven't seen in 2 months. and i am not excited (well that's not completely true, i don't really know how i feel about it). what do i say? what do i wear? should i say hi to him with words or my open hand across his face? i have no idea. and no amount of advice or tips will give me the slightest idea of how i should act. i'm furious. i'm sad. i'm happy. i'm just not over it. and no matter what i say to my friends and family or to myself for that matter, if i'm being 100% honest about the situation i am still so in love with him, or at least who he was before we broke up. and just as much as i am in love with him i'm twice as much hurt by him for everything that happened over the past four years (yes, my entire college career). and i can't help myself from thinking that with time my wounds will heal and maybe we can be together again. not that i think he still wants to be with me, because due to the past 2 months of silence i don't think he does.

anyway, this is just a universal difficult situation that everyone, including guys, have to deal with. seeing your ex is difficult, even more so when you still have feelings for the person.

i feel like i've talked about my whole situation with my ex more times than any of my friends want to hear and i hate that i love(and hate) talking about it. it confuses me and leaves me feeling helpless and unworthy. which i know that i'm not either. i'm still holding onto the idea of us because i don't want to move on, but the only thing i'm holding onto is the pain.

Working Out & Fitspiration

So I recently signed up for the Philadelphia Half Marathon in November, and while I am a huge fan of working out, I have to admit that I have been slacking - especially when it comes to running. I ran the Broad Street Run in May and during the race injured my knee, so at this point when I run at about mile 2-3 my knee starts hurting a lot. I think part of my problem is that I have to strengthen the muscles around my knee but I'm no doctor. So in honor of summer and my training, this blog is working out and fitspiration. On my Pinterest, I use Thinspiration, but after thinking about it, I'd rather encourage being fit rather than being thin.. so here's to muscles :)

Yesterday's Workout:
30 minutes of cardio and then...
Repeat 3 times!
